2019 American Gas Association Operations Conference and Biennial Exhibition

April 30, 2019 @ 8:00 am - May 2, 2019 @ 5:00 pm

Visit Mustang Sampling at booth 506.

The annual AGA Operations Conference is the natural gas industry’s premier gathering of natural gas utility and transmission company operations management from across North America and the world for the sharing of technical knowledge, ideas and practices to promote the safe, reliable, and cost-effective delivery of natural gas to the end-user. The Operations Conference is AGA’s largest forum with regularly more than 600 operations management in attendance, including 80 speakers, and over 100 technical presentations that run the gamut of topics, such as gas measurement, operations advocacy, safety, environment, storage, engineering, construction and maintenance, gas control, supplemental gas, corrosion control and plastic materials.

Kevin Warner, Ph.D., Chief Technology Officer, will be presenting back to back breakout sessions at the AGA Conference

Wednesday, May 1, 2019: 10:45 am – 11:25 am “The Impact of LNG Export on Conventional Metering and Natural Gas Analysis”
Liquefied natural gas (LNG) export has affected requirements for metering and analysis traditionally associated with gas bound for distribution. Analysis for contaminants harmful to liquefaction facilities, such as Mercury detection, is required, and cryogenic metering is necessary within facilities. This presentation will explore recent changes to common practices in transmission pipeline measurement resulting from LNG export. (Coauthor: K. Thompson, Mustang Sampling)

Wednesday, May 1, 2019: 3:20 pm – 4:00 pm “Sample Conditioning and Analysis of Wet Natural Gas”
Sample conditioning and analysis of wet natural gas is a growing concern as shale gas comprises a larger portion of the domestic gas supply. This presentation will present case studies from the Eagle Ford and Marcellus regions to illustrate different approaches required to successfully analyze gases with wide ranges of compositions. (Coauthor: K. Thompson, Mustang Sampling)

Brad Massey, will be presenting

Thursday, May 2, 2019: 3:55 pm – 4:35 pm “Determining a Practical Corrosion Protection Method of Meter Tubes Following Fabrication”
Industry end users and meter tube fabricators have tried various methods for preventing rust and corrosion from occurring in meter tubes following fabrication and prior to installation.  These methods have produced varying levels of success which are highly dependent on the method employed, exposure conditions, and exposure time prior to installation.  This paper provides some insightful considerations, discusses conclusive results, and displays the effectiveness of various rust preventive methods in an industry collaborative effort over a six month evaluation period.
